Oversampling from 12K gives you the best 8K and 4K images with the subtle skin tones and extraordinary detail high end still cameras.
12K Super 35 Sensor, 8K/120fps, and 4K/240fps
Cinematographers can shoot at 60 fps in 12K, 120 fps in 8K and up to 240 fps in 4K Super 16. URSA Mini Pro 12K features an interchangeable PL mount, as well as built in ND filters, dual CFast and UHS-II SD card recorders, a SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port and more. DaVinci Resolve Studio is included for creative control through post from editing to colour, VFX and more.
Digital Film Resolution for VFX and Beyond!
Perfect for feature films, episodic television and immersive, large format IMAX. The incredible definition around objects makes it ideal for working with green screen and VFX including compositing live action and CGI. Super sampling at 12K means you not only get better colour and resolution at 8K, but also a smoothness that comes from making aliasing invisible. This new generation of digital film technology ushers in an analog style purity and subtlety to deliver a better than film experience.
Interchangeable Lens Mounts
The first camera from Blackmagic Design to be available in native PL mount from the factory, the URSA Mini Pro 12K allows users to change the lens mount from PL to Canon EF or Nikon F and get more flexible lens options to suit just about any project.
12bit Blackmagic RAW Workflow
Blackmagic RAW is a revolutionary format, which makes cinema quality 12‑bit, 80 megapixel images at up to 60 frames a reality. Users have several options when it comes to selecting the level of detail and robustness of the image - Constant quality Q0 and Q5 options and new Q1 and Q3 lock the quality level, allowing compression to adapt, matching the detail of the scene.
Constant bitrate encoding options 5:1, 8:1, 12:1 and the new 18:1 are designed to give you the best possible images with predictable and consistent file size. Cinematographers can record RAW to 2 x cards simultaneously so you can shoot 12K or 8K to either CFast or UHS‑II cards, even at high frame rates! Blackmagic RAW stores camera metadata, lens data, white balance, digital slate information and custom LUTs to ensure consistency of image on set and through post production.
Optimised Flexible RAW Workflow for Any Post-Production Environment
Shooting RAW in 12K preserves the deepest control of detail, exposure and colour during post. Oversampling means you get extremely sharp 8K without harsh edges. Best of all, Blackmagic RAW is designed to accelerate 12K for post production, making it as easy to work with as standard HD or Ultra HD files.
Blackmagic RAW and it's URSA 12K native workflow is highly optimised, multi‑threaded, works across multiple CPU cores and is also GPU accelerated to work with Apple Metal, CUDA and OpenCL. So you can always work with your camera RAW files without having to make proxies. Blackmagic RAW 12K images provide unprecedented resolution and quality for colour, keying, compositing, reframing, stabilisation and tracking in 4K or 8K.
Gen 5 Colour Science for Organic Skin Tones and Vivid Detail
Blackmagic Generation 5 Colour Science features a new film curve designed to make full use of the massive amount of colour data from the new URSA Mini Pro 12K sensor. This delivers even better colour response for more pleasing skin tones, and better rendering of highly saturated colours such as neon signs and car tail lights in high contrast scenes.
Multiple High-Resolution Cameras into One!
URSA Mini Pro 12K is multiple cameras in one, shooting standard resolutions and frame rates in 4K, 8K and even insanely detailed 12K. Thanks to the gigantic 80 megapixels per frame at 60 fps in RAW you can capture perfect stills and motion shots in a single camera at the same time. Resolutions and frame rates go all the way up to 60 fps in 12K 12,288 x 6480 17:9.
For higher frame rates, you can shoot 8K at 120fps (8192 x 4320), 160 fps at 8192 x 3408 and even window the sensor to Super 16 to capture 4K at an incredible 240 fps at 4096 x 2160 DCI. URSA Mini Pro 12K has flexible frame rate and resolution options, and captures with improved motion rendering which means that you get smoother edges in 8K and 4K even at lower frame rates.
Record onto CFast, SD UHS-II, or USB-C SSD
The URSA Mini Pro 12K gives users the ability to chose from three different media formats to record on. The system provides dual built in CFast and UHS‑II SD card slots, and also a SuperSpeed USB‑C expansion port for recording to fast SATA and NVMe drives. With "Record RAW on 2 Cards" turned on, URSA Mini Pro 12K can record simultaneously across two cards up to an incredible 900MB/s to 2 CFast cards, or an impressive 500MB/s to 2 UHS‑II SD cards. The SuperSpeed USB‑C expansion port on the rear can record to USB‑C flash storage up to 900MB/s as a third recording option so you won’t be short of choices for capturing stunning 12K up to 60 fps or 8K up to 120 fps.
Built-in Precision ND Filters
URSA Mini Pro features high quality ND filters with 2, 4 and 6 stop filters provide users with additional latitude even under harsh lighting. The IR filters have been designed to filter both optical wavelengths and IR wavelengths evenly to eliminate IR contamination of the images from which many ND filters can suffer. URSA Mini Pro ND filters are true optical filters with a precision mechanism that quickly moves them into place when the ND filter dial is turned.
Direct Recording to USB-C External SSD
Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro features an innovative high speed USB-C Expansion Port. The new 12K model has a USB‑C 3.1 Gen 2 for a blistering 10 Gb/s data speeds. You can connect and power external flash disks and SSDs or on URSA Mini Pro 12K you can connect the new URSA Mini Recorder for recording to fast NVMe SSD drives for longer recording times. NVMe SSD drives are ideal for shooting 12K in the highest constant quality 12‑bit Blackmagic RAW in the Q0 setting or for high frame rates. Recording directly onto an external disk saves you time by eliminating the need to copy footage from cards to an SSD. This way you can plug the same SSD into your PC/Laptop and start editing away in seconds.
12G-SDI and XLR Audio
URSA Mini Pro features multiple connections such as 12G‑SDI out, LANC, balanced XLR audio with 48 volt phantom power, timecode in, reference input and a headphone connection. There’s also a 4 pin XLR DC output for powering accessories such as a viewfinder, and an HD‑SDI output for monitoring. That means you can connect an SDI display for on set monitoring of images, with or without overlays that show critical information and camera status. There is also a 12 pin Hi‑rose connector for controlling servo zoom lenses. The URSA Mini Pro 12K comes equipped with a USB‑C expansion port for recording to external disks, which is conveniently located on the rear of the camera.
Wireless Bluetooth Camera Control from a Tablet
This functionality allows you to get full control via Bluetooth from up to 30 feet away. You can download the Blackmagic Camera Control app for your iPad or use third party apps such as Bluetooth+ or trigger on your iOS and Android devices. There’s even a free developer SDK with sample code available from the Blackmagic Design developer website, so you can create your own remote camera control and digital slate solutions.
