The new Zeiss Supreme Primes are a brand new lens line-up designed for the latest generation of large sensor cameras such as the Sony VENICE and Alexa LF. A total of 13 primes have been announced so far ranging from a super-wide 15mm to a 200mm telephoto. The Zeiss Supreme lenses are super-fast with most featuring a max aperture of T1.5. Zeiss Extended Data technology for VFX lens metadata is also support as well as the interchangeable lens mount system allowing for PL, LPL and EF compatibility.
This new range are designed for cinematographers using large format cameras who want smaller and lighter lenses that still produces top-quality results. Consistency is a key feature offered by these new lenses which includes colour rendering, aperture, size, weight and ergonomics. A richer texture and greater depth to the image is created by the aesthetic focus fall-off and elegant bokeh.
The 25mm, 29mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm lenses will be released in August 2018 and the 100mm will be ready in December. All six can be purchased together as a set, but you’ll have to wait until 2019 for the 15mm, 18mm, 21mm, 65mm, 135mm and 150mm focal lengths to become available. The 200mm T2.1, meanwhile, will arrive in 2020.
