Venus Optics Launches Kickstarter for World's Widest f/2.8 Full-Frame Lens - the Laowa 12mm f/2.8 ZERO-D
The Laowa 12mm f/2.8 ZERO-D ultra-wide angle lens by Venus Optics is currently on Kickstarter and it promises to be a stunning full-frame lens not just for landscape or astro photographers, but video professionals as well.
The Laowa 12mm f2.8 offers near zero-distortion, super image quality and a smaller size compared to similar lenses from other manufacturers. The lens will be available in Canon EF, Nikon, Sony A, Pentax K and Sony E mount, so those owning a Sony A7sII or a Canon 1D X Mark II can take full advantage of the super-wide angle distortion free view in both stills and video. The fast f2.8 aperture makes it possible to get stunning results with low to no noise in low light situations. Check out some stills and video samples below to see for yourself.
The Laowa 12mm f/2.8 ZERO-D lens will retail for about $949 after the Kickstarter campaign ends at the end of August, however there is still some time left to get some early bird specials and save a few hundred on the lens. As of the writing of this post there were still some $799 options left.
