Yesterday we shared some amazing new footage from the URSA Mini 4.6K, and today Blackmagic Design officially announced that the 4.6K version of the URSA Mini is finally shipping.  We have a good amount of pre-orders we hope to fulfil in the upcoming weeks and we strongly urge our customer who are considering purchasing one but have not  yet placed orders to place their pre-order today as we expect this camera to be available in very limited quantities at first. Blackmagic-URSA-Mini- Blackmagic Design also released a new promo video demonstrating the impressive 15 stops dynamic range of the URSA Mini 4.6K as well as a behind the scene video describing the process. An additional video by CEO Grant Petty, which can be seen here describes some of the changes in the 4.6K model since the announcement last year in addition to addressing some customers' questions about 1080/120fps slow-motion in windowed mode, the 256GB capacity Cfast 2.0 cards and how much 4K you can record as well as other pertinent concerns. Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K camera The major change in the 4.6K (both EF and PL versions) is that it will NOT have a Global Shutter mode. The Ursa MINI 4K on the other hand is capable of both Rolling and global shutter, while the URSA Mini 4.6K will remain rolling shutter only. The reason for this according to Grant, is that the implementation of Global Shutter in the 4.6K version has proven to be an unexpected hurdle that their engineering team at this stage is not able to overcome without sacrificing quality, something BMD is not willing to do understandably as they want to ensure all you guys out there get all the 15 stops dynamic range. Once again, we expect a very high-demand for this camera and anticipate a limited volume initially therefore we strongly urge you to pre-order the camera from our website here with only a £100 fully-refundable deposit (remainder due before goods are dispatched).
