Sony FS7

Sony just released the much-anticipated Firmware version 3.0 for the PXW-FS7 enabling key features such as 2K Centre Scan for Super 16mm lenses and B4 2/3 broadcast glass, movable focus magnification, improves Zebras, noise suppression in CineEI mode and more.

Version 1.1 allows simultaneous QFHD internal recording and QFHD output to an external unit that serves as the monitoring device. A new menu item (“QFHD REC OUTPUT”) in the recording menu permits switching between simultaneous QFHD internal/external recording, with loss of VF and LCD operation and internal recording.

To make it easier for those who've just bought a Sony FS7 or future potential owners, the team at Sony has recently released a few very informative tutorials on how to setup the FS7 with esteemed DP and trainer Alister Chapman.

Sony is due to release the much awaited firmware update 3.0 for the Sony FS7 in December, which will bring some much needed improvements to the already very popular and field-proven production 4K workhorse.
