Firmware Update

Sony have released the latest free firmware update version 4.0 for their very popular Sony FS7 camera, which gives users the ability to record in true 24p in 4K XAVC-I alongside a few other exciting new features.

URSA mini 4.6K users experiencing lens shading issues - also known as the "Magenta Issue" - may no longer have to put up with this because of the new Blackmagic Camera Setup 3.3 update. Some users have experienced difficulty in getting the best from their URSA Mini 4.6K cameras due to heavy magenta corners when working with certain f-stops.

Firmware version v2016.6 adds the whopping 23 new features to the Odyssey7Q+/7Q and Apollo recorders and is also free for all owners of these recorders. The addition of Sony FS5 4K RAW to the Odyssey Raw Bundle (for the Odyssey7Q and 7Q+) is one of those major new features.

The Video Devices PIX-E monitors/recorders get firmware version 3.0, which opens ProRes recording to the SpeedDrive while simultaneously recording H.264 to an SD card. The H.264 codec is familiar to video content creators offering a good balance between compression and quality to reach low data rates and small file sizes, making it perfect for web streaming, email, and faster file uploads.

The much awaited firmware update 2.0 for the Sony FS5 is now available to download from Sony Pro UK. The firmware is free of charge and adds some really exciting functionality such as expanded zebras, GPS, and Auto ND for fluid exposure compensation mid-shot.
