Firmware Update

The Video Assist monitor/recorders from Blackmagic Design go from strength to strength with the latest firmware update version 2.2, which adds an MXF wrapper for DNxHD and the 4K DNxHR codecs on the Video Assist 4K, as well as false colour for assisting camera operators with exposure. The firmware also adds improvements to the focus assist peaking with the addition of more colours - Red, Green, Blue and White.

With the release of the latest firmware version 4.0, the Panasonic Varicam LT can now output 4K Raw up to 30p via a single SDI, or 4K/60p via Dual-link SDI to a compatible external recorder. At the moment those are the Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+ and the Atomos Shogun Inferno. The firmware update is free of charge for Varicam LT owners.

Sony just released the latest firmware version 3.30 for their popular full-frame mirrorless beast the Sony A7RII. The latest firmware offers improvements such as “optimizing temperature control...” which will hopefully prevent overheating when shooting 4K video for prolonged periods of time as some users have experienced in the past.

Blackmagic Camera Update 4.0 includes a completely new and re-designed user interface with simple tap and swipe gestures that give you faster access to camera controls and settings, new exposure and focus assist tools and much more. The new URSA Mini 4.6K user interface transforms the user experience and offers more intuitive and easy access to major camera parameters than ever before.

Canon just released firmware version 1.0.4.1.00 for their Canon EOS C300 Mark II, which was announced back at NAB 2016 and adds some significant new features to the C300 II such as Canon LOG 3, reduces shadow noise when Canon LOG 2 is in use and other features.
