Canon C300 Mark II

Renowned cinematographer and Canon Technical Advisor for their motion picture equipment, including the Cinema EOS Series, Brent Ramsay has the low-down on the latest firmware update for the Canon C300 Mark II, which adds among many other things, the much-awaited Canon LOG 3, while also hugely improving Canon Log 2.

Canon just released firmware version 1.0.4.1.00 for their Canon EOS C300 Mark II, which was announced back at NAB 2016 and adds some significant new features to the C300 II such as Canon LOG 3, reduces shadow noise when Canon LOG 2 is in use and other features.

Canon just announced a series of new firmware updates for their Cinema EOS camera line including the C300 Mark II and the C100 Mark II, as well as the 4K hybrid XC10 and the broadcast workhorse XF305 in addition to the CN7x17 servo zoom and the DP-V2410 4K reference display.

Great news for all C300 Mark II both current and future owners - the camera has now been officially certified for EBU Tier 1 HD and Tier 2 4K Classification for professional broadcast work. The BBC and other leading broadcasters in the UK and Europe often use the EBU classifications when selecting cameras for jobs, and now that the C300 MK II is officially on the list with the impressive 15 stops dynamic range and a wealth of on-board codecs, owner-operators can rest assured their camera has been officially tested.

The Canon 4K top camera - the EOS C500 just received it's biggest price drop since release more than 4 years go. The Canon EOS C500 in both PL and EF mount is now just £6995 + VAT. This is a significant value for money for productions looking for a high end Super 35 look and cinematic 4K/2K Raw and RGB 444 recording.
