Atomos Shogun

At IBC, Atomos demonstrates for the first time the 4K 3RU Shogun Studio for Broadcast & Live events, free Shogun upgrades including Canon Raw & Motion Blur time lapse, the 4K HDMI Ninja Assassin at £899 + VAT and price changes on the HD range which see a world first Pro-Res/DNxHR monitor-recorder under £209.

Since the Shogun launched in late 2014, Atomos has constantly kept users updated with free features, adding significant value to the already affordable all-in-one 4K/HD monitor-recorder. The AtomOS6.4 released today adds some of the most anticipated features for users to date.

Last April, Vocalno Calbuco in Southern Chile erupted and timelapse photographer Martin Heck from Timestorm Films was lucky enough to be within the vicinity with his gear and capture some breathtaking 8K timelapse and 4K video footage on a Pentax 645Z and Sony A7s with the Atomos Shogun.

The Australian gear maker recently announced their firmware update schedule for the Shogun and today AtomOS 6.21 firmware is available to download. We've been delivering the Atomos Shogun to professional cameramen and entusiasts alike for the past few months in droves, as it has proven quite popular month the GH4A7s crowed and FS700 and FS7 users as of lately.

The Atomos Shogun is the perfect companion to the Panasonic GH4, which already shoots 4K internally on SDXC cards, however for those wanting to upgrade their footage to a 10bit 422 chroma sampling – the Atomos Shogun will provide such recording capabilities via HDMI. The Sony A7s with its full frame super-sensitive sensor can currently record 1080p internally, however the Shogun can unlock the true potential of this phenomenal camera giving it the 4K (UHD) treatment.
