Schneider announces new RHOdium Full Spectrum Neutral Denisty (FSND) filters, a high-end ND filter line made specifically for the critical colour standards of 4K, 6K, and 8K resolutions.
The new Schneider RHOdium FSND filters are available in 6x6 and 4x5.65 sizes and cover full range of ND densities: 0.3, 0.6, 0.9, 1.2, 1.5, 1.8, 2.1, 2.4, 2.7, and 3.0. Major advancements have resulted in fewer issues with IR leakage compared to digital cameras of the past.
These new filters help resolve even the finest detail. The RHOdium FSND filters are manufactured to finer flatness/parallelism specifications than ever before.
According to DIT Dan Zimbaldi, “The Schneider RHOdium FSND filters preserve that natural colour while still capturing the full spectrum evenly. This is of particular importance in post production colour grading because it allows the colourist to grade all the shots the same, filtered or unfiltered.”
These are the first set of filters by Schneider to undergo a lab-test tristimulus scan, a more critical colour measurement than methods previously used to measure filter quality. According to Schneider, the result is unprecedented accuracy as the method verifies neutrality by utilizing a colorimetric algorithm that compares samples to perfectly neutral light.
Cinematographers working with the popular RED Raven or a
Blackmagic URSA Mini 4.6K should consider these ND filters as a priority. They are suited for all Neutral Density needs by keeping the visible spectrum completely in control.
The new Schneider RHOdium FSND filters will be available later this month and should be available to view at the upcoming NAB 2017 trade show in Las Vegas.
