Further developments of the Panasonic 360-degree camera announced at NAB 2017. The 360 degree Live Camera System (Camera Head / Base Unit)  first showcased at IBC, the company now says it will be available from August this year. The very impressive unit comprises of a camera head and base unit uses four cameras to produce 360-degree video in uncompressed 4K with a 2:1 image (equi-rectangular video). Panasonic 360-degree cameraThanks to its real-time, live active stitching feature and super low latency, productions such as sports broadcasts, concerts and other stadium events can expect to achieve excellent picture reproduction equivalent to post-stitched content. The 4K (3840x1920) image provides an immersive experience for the viewer, at the same time automatically controlling the exposure and white balance. The camera uses high-precision ‘real-time active stitching’ to automatically change the stitching position to ensure the most accurate and natural image. Easy installation/uninstallation at a shooting site makes operation even more flexible. Not only is this system capable of monitoring and changing configuration remotely via a network with a PC or tablet such as an iPad, but it also allows for control from iPad in a Wi-Fi environment. Furthermore, the 360-degree Live Camera is designed for professional use, offering high reliability with the features that address operators’ most specific needs, such as prevention of unexpected cable removal. The AW-360C10 Live Camera Head and AW-360B10 Live Camera Base Unit will be available in August 2017, with pricing yet to be announced.
