In its largest-ever simultaneous product release RØDE has announced six new products at IBC 2015 in Amsterdam. This was a massive event for Rode and the Australian manufacturer added two new microphones, a pair of carbon fibre boompoles, an XLR interface for Apple iOS® devices and an XLR adaptor for the company’s popular RØDELink 2.4GHz digital wireless system to their line-up of products.
Just this past Friday at the start of IBC 2015, Sony announced their latest addition to the large sensor XDCAM range - the PXW-FS5. Featuring a similar, ergonomic and compact design we've seen from the FS7, the FS5 is slimmer and smaller, but still has a lot of horsepower under the hood. So, with that said, let's see how it stacks against other cameras from Sony and competing brands, at least on paper.
At IBC, Atomos demonstrates for the first time the 4K 3RU Shogun Studio for Broadcast & Live events, free Shogun upgrades including Canon Raw & Motion Blur time lapse, the 4K HDMI Ninja Assassin at £899 + VAT and price changes on the HD range which see a world first Pro-Res/DNxHR monitor-recorder under £209.
SmallHD announced the iPhone sized 5-inch 502 SDI monitor back at NAB earlier this year, which then they followed up with a more affordable HDMI only version called the 501. Today the US company introduces a daylight viewable, 7-inch, Full HD on-board monitor they will be demoing at their booth at IBC 2015 starting tomorrow.
