After much anticipation and rumours at this years CES in Las Vegas, Nikon finally unveiled their new D5 flagship full-frame camera which can go up to ISO 3.28 Million and basically see in the dark. The new Nikon big-boy camera body features a brand new Full-Frame 20.8 MP sensor with an EXPEED 5 processor, and native ISO up to 102,400, which can be extended to the absolutely crazy ISO of 3.28 Million! For stills photographs there is no doubt that the Nikon D5 will deliver outstanding images, but for those interested in the video side of things - the good news here is that the D5 can do UHD at 24/25 or 30p at a crop of 1.5x (approximately APS-C size for UHD video) or use the full sensor for Full HD capture up to 60p. Uncompressed output to external 4K recorders like the Video Devices PIX-E7, Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+ or the Atomos Ninja Assasssin. One more important note about the 4K recording - internal recording is limited to 3 minutes when shooting in UHD. Both will be priced the same and both will have identical features apart from the media they use. It is good to see Nikon continuing their commitment to XQD media, which we mostly know from the Sony FS7 professional camcorder.
