This week is part 2 of our highlights from this year’s IBC featuring Sony's 16-35mm T3.1 FF lens for FX9, Video Assist 12G HDR monitor/recorders from Blackmagic, a new line of 4K HDR Production Monitors from SmallHD, the new OConnor Ultimate 1040 flowtech100 tripod system plus a major announcement from Adobe, that ProRes RAW will be supported natively inside Premiere Pro.
At IBC 2019 Sony also unveiled their new 16-35mm T3.1 full-frame lens designed for the new FX9. When paired with the new full-frame Sony FX9, the lens supports fast and accurate auto focus, and also features a detachable servo zoom. The three independent lens rings allow for full manual control and compatibility with follow focus systems, while the linear response Manual Focus feature provides direct focus adjustment for precise and repeatable manual focusing. The lens is said to be available sometime early next year.
Blackmagic Design announced the new Video Assist 12G HDR monitor/recorders at IBC. Available in two models, a more compact 5-inch model, and the larger 7-inch Video Assist, both models feature 12G SDI and HDMI 2.0 connectivity, with the larger 7-inch model getting full-size BNC. Now powered by a couple of Sony NP-F style batteries, the Video Assist 12G gets a 2500 nits super-bright display with 3D LUT support and a host of professional monitoring features such as peaking, scopes, and many more.
And speaking of monitors, SmallHD announced a new line of 4K HDR Production Monitors. The SmallHD CINE and Vision monitors, both include 3 monitors each with display sizes ranging from 13inch to 17, and 24-inches. The Vision range is said to be their 4K HDR reference display range with 4 independent 12G inputs and 114% DCI P3 coverage, while the Cine range gets 1000 and 2500nit panels with 100% DCI P3 coverage. Both the Cine and Vision range offer a full set of professional HDR cinematography tools and will be available to purchase sometime in early 2020.
OConnor have paired their brand new Ultimate 1040 fluid head with the awesome flowtech tripod technology. Now fitted with OConnor’s popular large Euro Plate as standard, the Ultimate 1040 allows supports a max payload of 45 pounds while retaining the same performance and ergonomic features of the OConnor signature 1030 head. The Flowtech100 tripod that is paired with the new OConnor head gives camera users access to the fastest-deployable tripod legs and also a lightweight, but very strong camera support system. The new OConnor Ultimate 1040 flowtech 100 tripod system is due to ship in October.
And last, but not least, ProRes Raw is on its way to possibly becoming the next industry standard editing format after a major announcement from Adobe, who announced native support for ProRes raw into their Premiere Pro CC editing platform. Avid and Edius have also announced support for ProRes Raw, which up until recently was a Final Cut X exclusive. The actual release for the Premiere Pro update has not yet been announced, but at least the most important first steps have already been made.
