This week we are featuring the next generation Alpha 7R full-frame mirrorless camera – the new Sony A7R Mark IV, a new Ronin SC lightweight gimbal stabilizer from DJI plus a new wireless focus control system called Moxie from Gravity Labs.
NEW Sony A7R Mark IV
Just days ago, Sony announced the next generation Alpha 7R full-frame mirrorless camera – the new Sony A7R Mark IV takes full-frame photography to a whole new level with a brand new 61 megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor, 10fps continuous shooting and 15 stops dynamic range. The new A7R IV debuts an exciting new feature in video mode called Real time Eye AF for video which will make life a lot easier for those filming events and weddings. 4K/30p recording, Slog3 and HLG comes standard, as well as dual UHS-II SD card slots, improved button ergonomics and a bigger grip for easier handling. In addition to the new A7R Mark IV, Sony also unveiled a new on-camera shotgun mic with a built-in AD converter, advanced digital signal processing, and three selectable directivity patterns.
DJI Ronin SC
DJI also announced a new Ronin SC lightweight gimbal stabilizer designed for the latest generation mirrorless cameras. The DJI Ronin SC continues the design aesthetics started with its bigger brother the Ronin-S, but sheds quite a bit of weight and comes in at just over 1 kilogram, while being able to carry a maximum payload of 2.2 kilograms. The gimbal offers a healthy 11 hours battery life, while new modes such as Force Mobile and Active Track 3.0 enable synchronizing movement and focus tracking with a smartphone. DJI is also offering a Ronin SC Pro Combo kit adds the focus wheel, a focus motor and rod mount for those looking to use manual focus lenses with the gimbal.
Moxie from Gravity Labs
Gravity Labs have turned to Kickstarter to pitch a new and wireless control system called Moxie to indie filmmakers, cinematographers and video content creators looking for a pro quality lens control system that is also affordable. Moxie offers iris, zoom and focus control via an Android or iOS smartphone app at a distance of up to 8 meters. The budget wireless control system uses high quality high torque motors and offers auto-calibration for lenses with hard stops.
