This week we are featuring Wooden Camera's latest generation Director’s Monitor cage version 3, a new firmware update for the Ninja V compact monitor recorder from Atomos plus the Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR monitoring solution from Blackmagic Design.
Wooden Camera Director's Monitor Cage v3
At Cine Gear 2019, Wooden Camera debut their latest generation Director’s Monitor cage. Now in its third generation, the new Director’s Monitor Cage v3 comes totally revamped and is more user-friendly than ever. Version 3 supports just about any 7-inch or 9-inch monitor out there including the SmallHD 500, 700 series, the new SmallHD Cine 7, Focus series, the 702 Touch, TV Logic monitors, the Odyssey7Q, Atomos Ninja, Shinobi and many more.
Compared to the previous model, the new Director’s Monitor cage v3 is 33% lighter than the previous generation and now comes with carbon fibre rods and handles for a total weight of 1 pound. The cage also supports a dual monitor setup and has an integrated baby pin clamp for easier mounting on C-stands. Shipping is estimated to commence later this month.
Atomos Ninja V firmware update
Atomos just released a new firmware update for their Ninja V compact monitor recorder. Atomos Firmware 10.1 adds support for the new AtomX SDI module, which greatly expands the Ninja V connectivity as by default the Ninja V only supports HDMI. Other improvements in firmware 10.1 include support for SSD capacities over 2 TBs, and the ability to embed your line/mic in audio onto any channel on the HDMI or SDI loop out port. Blackmagic Teranex Mini
Blackmagic Design recently announced the Teranex Mini SDI to DisplayPort 8K HDR, an advanced 8K DisplayPort monitoring solution packed with professional features such as dual on screen scope overlays, 3D LUTs and HDR support, and 12G-SDI quad-link support for expanded connectivity. Designed to meet the needs of colourists and editors working with the new generation of monitors such as the new Pro Display XDR from Apple, the Teranex Mini SDI also supports third party colour calibration probes to accurately align connected displays.
Blackmagic Design have future proofed the converter with support for 8K/60p and 4K DCI in addition to 2K and Full HD resolutions are also supported. The Teranex Mini SDI to Display Port 8K HDR is expected to start shipping in October.
