NAB 2019 Special- Teradek, Rode and Blackmagic Design
Welcome to the latest issue of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.
In this NAB 2019 Special we are featuring new product releases and firmware updates from Teradek, Rode and Blackmagic Design.
TERADEK
Wireless video industry leaders Teradek announced quite a few new products for NAB 2019, including a new CTRL.3 lens control system and the Teradek Bolt 4K a world’s first zero-delay wireless video transmission system with 4K signal support.
For those video professionals with a more limited budget, Teradek also unveiled Ace 500 offers a reliable and affordable way to transmit a video signal up to 500 feet with no perceivable delay via HDMI sources such as DSLR and mirrorless cameras.
RODE
Australian audio giant Rode also announced a new affordable and ultra-compact Wireless Go system for video creators, vloggers and on-camera presenters. The Wireless Go offers a range of up to 70 meters line of sight and a decent battery life of 7 hours. The Transmitter and receiver weigh only 31 grams each and pairing can be done very easily in under 3 seconds. The Wireless go is expected to start shipping towards the end of the month for around $200 USD.
Blackmagic Design
Blackmagic Design had a large presence at NAB 2019, and the innovative company unveiled the latest update to their popular DaVinci Resolve 16, editing, grading, VFX and audio suite. Resolve 16 includes a new CUT page specifically designed for editors that need to work quickly and on tight deadlines.
Resolve 16 advanced also includes a new DaVinci Neural Engine for advanced machine learning and dozens performance and workflow improvements. Blackmagic Design also announced a new dedicated keyboard for Resolve, which will go on sale later in the year.
Other new product announcements from Blackmagic include the new Pocket Camera Battery Grip, designed to significantly extend the battery life thanks to its intuitive design and ability to hold 2 x Sony L Series batteries giving your camera hours of recording time, while at the same time powering external SSD drives through the USB-C port. The Pocket Camera Battery Grip is expected to ship in August for around £200.
Blackmagic Design also announced a new HyperDeck Extreme 8K deck recorder with 8K H.265 support, intuitive touch screen user interface and traditional broadcast deck controls. The new deck supports the latest Quad Link 12G SDI connectivity and recording onto Cfast 2.0 cards.
Blackmagic also updated their high-end live production switcher line with the new ATEM Constellation 8K switcher with built in front panel controls, UHD support and a massive amount of 12G SDI inputs and outputs designed to accommodate any live production.
