This week we are featuring the latest firmware update v5.02 for the Sony VENICE digital cinema camera, the new Sigma 100-400mm ultra-telephoto zoom lens that is exclusively made for the L-mount and Sony E mount camera systems, plus the RODECaster Pro firmware v2.1 from Rode Microphones.
Sony has just released a new firmware update for the Sony VENICE digital cinema camera. And although it does not add new features to the camera, latest firmware v5.02 is important since it fixes a rare bug when recording simultaneously on the SxS media and AXS on the R7 raw recorder. It is also worth noting that the R7 recorder does not need to be upgraded and remains at firmware v5.0.
Sigma has some great news for those looking for a new full-frame telephoto zoom. The newly announced Sigma 100-400mm ultra-telephoto zoom is exclusively made for the L-mount and Sony E mount camera systems and weighs just over 1100 grams. For a lens this size, the relatively lightweight footprint is very impressive and so is the two-mode optical stabilization. The new Sigma 100-400mm f5-6.3 is going to be an excellent choice for wildlife filmmakers using cameras such as the Sony FX9.
In addition to the new ultra-zoom, Sigma is announcing L-mount versions of their popular 16mm F1.4, 30mm F1.4 and 56mm F1.4 DC DN lenses, which are already available in Sony E, Micro Four Thirds, and Canon M mounts.
RODE Microphones has just released a huge update to their Rodecaster Pro. The all-in-one podcasting studio device has been extremely popular with filmmakers and creators looking to start their own podcast. And with the latest firmware v2.1, users get access to a host of new features including full control over audio processing parameters, post-fader multi-track recording, a master bus compressor and much more.
