Welcome to the latest issue of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

This week we are featuring ARRI's new firmware update- LF SUP 4.3 for the ALEXA LF camera, Blackmagic Design's latest update 16.2.2 for their popular DaVinci Resolve editing software plus the cancellation of IBC 2020 and CineGear 2020 trade shows.

ARRI ALEXA LF SUP 4.3

ARRI has just released a new firmware update for their ALEXA LF camera. The latest SUP 4.3 Update makes some usability changes to the Magnification function and also provides some bug fixes. With SUP 4.3 ARRI has added special Magnification icons in the status overlay area, instead of the orange lines, which some users found distracting. With this functionality, camera operators can see better when a bigger image area is being recorded than compared to what is shown on the MONITOR OUT and viewfinder. A similar update is also in the works for the ALEXA Mini LF and ALEXA 65 cameras.

Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve 16.2.2

Blackmagic Design has just released a new update to their DaVinci Resolve colour grading and editing software. The latest Resolve 16.2.2 update adds hardware accelerated H.265 renders on Macs and custom output frames for Youtube, Vimeo, and frame.io. As with all DaVinci Resolve updates, this firmware update is also free, and it also brings additional improvements to stabilization, audio workflow, and Blackmagic RAW metadata. IBC 2020 and CineGear Expo 2020

And last, but not least, it was just announced that IBC 2020 and CineGear 2020 trade shows have been cancelled due to the current global pandemic. Earlier in the year, Cine Gear Expo organisers announced that they are postponing the show until October, however just this past week they officially abandoned this idea and cancelled the event. IBC 2020 was also originally scheduled for September. Both shows are now planning some form of a digital format, with more news on how and when this will happen to be released at a later date.
