This week we have a new update to DaVinci Resolve 19 from Blackmagic Design, new version of Final Cut Pro, brand new chip, and expanded pro editing tools for the new iPad Pro, and a quick look at our upcoming events and trade shows we are attending.
DaVinci Resolve 19 Beta version 2 is now available to download with various bug fixes such as the ability to apply grades to clips or node stack layers, support for safe area overlays during playback and better audio trimming in media management. Some issue with timecode in Multi-cam mode have been addressed alongside a fix for some rendering issues with re-timed clips on Macs equipped with Apple silicon chips.
And speaking of chips, Apple unveiled the new iPad Pro powered by the new generation M4 Apple silicon built on a 2nd gen 3-nanometer technology providing a significant performance boost for creators. The M4 benefits from a 10-core GPU and introduces a new Dynamic Caching feature, which helps allocates local memory dynamically in real time, thus significantly boosting performance for the most demanding pro apps utilising 4K video such as Final Cut Pro, which also gets a major new update. Final Cut 10.8 introduces powerful new features for creators such as Enhance Light and Color, giving users the ability to improve color balance and brightness in one simple step, and works seamlessly with HDR, RAW, or Log-encoded media.
Live Multicam gives users the ability to connect and preview up to four cameras all at once, while the new Final Cut Camera is an an all-new video capture app for iPhone and iPad. This standalone app makes it possible for users to adjust settings like White Balance and Manual Focus, while monitoring their recordings with zebras and audio meters very much like the Blackmagic Camera app.
