This week we are covering the new ALEXA 35 accessories, which make it possible for camera operators to use ALEXA 35 compact base plates on ALEXA Mini LF and ALEXA Mini, the new Elite Accessories for the Sony BURANO from Wooden Camera, as well as the latest DaVinci Resolve 18.6.3 update.
ARRI has announced new accessories making it easier to use the new ALEXA 35 baseplates on the Mini LF and Alexa Mini. This is all possible thanks to three new accessories - the BUD 3, or Balance Utility Dovetail, the RAB-3 and MAP-4. The newly announced accessories share the same design language as the latest ALEXA 35 base plates such as a lightweight, but rugged and durable construction designed to work in unison with both the latest and ALEXA 35 and also the previous Mini LF and ALEXA Mini. These accessories make it more convenient to swap between a tripod setup and a gimbal for example or another camera stabilising system. As an authorised ARRI dealer, we are delighted to see ARRI making their ALEXA 35 accessories more compatible with other ALEXA cameras, which is something a lot our ALEXA 35 owners have been asking for.
And just like they did with the ALEXA 35 and VENICE 2, Wooden Camera have are bringing the new Sony BURANO to their Elite Accessory System. This modular accessory system has been designed to give cinematographers the freedom to design their rig based on their needs including versatile options to mount the camera EVF in different positions, adding more options to power accessories via the D-Box and even more mounting options for accessories via the modular cage system. The ARCA base plate also allows camera operators to quickly switch between tripod and gimbal or Steadicam setups.

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 18.6.3. The latest update brings many improvements to cloud workflows such as a new dialog menu, support to sync media from network folders for cloud projects, as well as more delivery options such as the ability to select proxy media rather than camera originals for web presets. Blackmagic Design has also added support for decoding 4:2:2 HEIF and HIF clips, allowing you to use much higher quality footage shot on smartphones. This update also adds a number of stability improvements including optimisations for Macs running the latest Sonoma 14.1 OS, as well as better handling of saturation for HDR images.
