This week we are featuring the new Atomos Ninja and Ninja ULTRA monitor-recorders, the Teradek Ranger Mark II and Micro zero-delay wireless transmission systems, as well as the latest DaVinci Resolve 18.5.1 update from Blackmagic Design.
Atomos has unveiled the next generation Ninja and brand new Ninja Ultra monitor recorders. Building on a decade plus long legacy of innovation, the updated Atomos NINJA comes in a brand new camo polycarbonate chassis, 1000 nits 5-inch touchscreen display, and out-of-the-box support for a host of codecs including 6K ProRes RAW, Prores, DNx and H.265 eliminating the need for paid licenses. The Atomos Ninja ULTRA adds support for 8K/30 ProRes RAW as well as Dual ProRes and H.265 recording. The Ultra also brings more advanced features compatible with cloud-based workflows and timecode and filename support for ARRI and RED cine cameras. When used with the Atomos Connect expansion module, the new models get access to Atomos RemoteView, which allows you to wirelessly share a live view from the Ninja to other Atomos monitors, iPads, Macs and Apple TVs. The new devices also feature the latest AtomOS 11 operating system, which is now more responsive and features a cleaner user interface.
Teradek is now shipping their latest Ranger II and Ranger Micro zero-delay wireless video systems, which were unveiled earlier in the year during NAB. The Ranger series are perfect options for live productions due to their 6GHz support, granular frequency control, practically zero delay and lossless transmission of 4K HDR signal with 256bit encryption on the Ranger II model. With a long range of up to 5000 feet, the Ranger II is ideal for sports and ENG applications, while the 12G-SDI and full-size HDMI connectivity makes it even more versatile to use with a wide range of productions regardless of scope. The Ranger Micro on the other hand features 3G-SDI and HDMI I/O and support for 1080p60 wireless video, with either a V-mount or Gold-mount battery plate options.
