ARRI has announced a new on-board monitor with full camera and menu control for the ALEXA 35 and ALEXA Mini LF. The ARRI CCM-1 is a sleek, but rugged 7-inch monitor developed in partnership with SmallHD provides an alternative camera, menu, and image control interface to the MVF-2 viewfinder, which it can either replace entirely or work alongside. The daylight viewable, high contrast display makes it easy to monitor a colour accurate image, and just like the MVF-2 viewfinder, the CCM-1 connects via the camera’s VF connector providing critical sensor level monitoring. Cables up to 10 meters are supported, and by using the camera’s VF connector both SDI outputs are free to be used with other equipment. This makes the CCM-1 suitable for use in confined spaces, on jibs, cranes, and car rigs. The touchscreen functionality allows for easy one hand navigation, while the tactile users buttons ensure a more ergonomic feel.
Kino Flo also showed of their new and quite impressive Mimik 120. A image-based hybrid video lighting tile for virtual productions, the Mimik is a full spectrum LED system that mirrors video content while delivering cinematic colour when lighting talent and set elements. Patented Kino Flo technology helps to translate an incoming RGB video signal and generate synchronized foreground lighting that realistically represents the physical world on virtual sets.
