Welcome to the latest episode of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

This week we are checking out some of the latest announcements from the NAB show in Las Vegas. We take a look at the latest products and developments from Blackmagic Design, the new CinX fluid head range from Miller plus Wooden Camera's new range of accessories for the Sony FX3 and FX30.

Blackmagic new products and developments

Blackmagic Design came to NAB this year with quite a few new products and developments. The company announced a new URSA Mini Pro 12K camera with an optical low-pass filter, which has been optimised to preserve the colour and critical detail of the ultra high resolution, while reducing moire and aliasing. The new low-pass filter also features updated InfraRed filtering and optimised Blackmagic RAW for better detail. This makes the new model perfect for VFX heavy green screen productions including large LED walls. At NAB the company also unveiled the new ATEM Television Studio 4K with 8 x 12G SDI inputs, which can handle video formats up to 4K UHD 50 and 60p. Also at the show visitors can check out the new 4K version of the ATEM 4 M/E Constellation with standard converters on all inputs, as well as the new and improved ENG Kit for the URSA Broadcast G2, which is also compatible with the previous model.

Miller CinX fluid heads

Miller Tripods expands their Cine range with the new CinX 8 and 9 large fluid heads. Designed for higher payloads of up to 40 kg, these fluid heads are compatible with the ARRI side loading camera plate and feature 16 steps of counterbalance. The CinX 8 is fitted with a 150mm low profile clawball, while the CinX 9 has a flat base. On the small side of fluid heads, at NAB Miller also showed off the new CinX 20, 23 and 25, equipped with 75mm and 100mm bowls with capacities between 8 and 14 kg making them suitable for a wide range of compact cinema and broadcast cameras such as the Sony FX9 and many others.

Wooden Camera accessories for the Sony FX3 and FX30

Wooden Camera has announced a new range of accessories for the Sony FX3 and FX30 cameras. The new accessory range has been designed to be ergonomic and expandable. At the base of the system is the lightweight, ARCA compatible L-shaped cage upon which users can expand and build their rig. They can also add a wrap-around Cage Grip with additional mounting points as well as a modular Top Plate. The system also includes a streamlined Carry Handle Cheese Plate as well as a Universal Micro Battery plate slide with 2 x D-taps available in either V-mount or Gold mount.
