This week we are featuring the latest SUP 2.0 firmware release for the ARRI Hi-5 hand control unit, the new Tilta PL to LPL Mount adapter for cinema cameras and Bebob's release of a new B-mount battery plate - allowing Sony VENICE users to power their whole camera rig via a single battery.
ARRI has just released a major software update for their Hi-5 hand unit. SUP 2.0 for the ARRI Hi-5 adds 10 new major features to the company’s flagship wireless camera and lens control unit. New features include a Frequency Analyser, which helps users select a radio channel. This feature does require the ARRI EMIP module. Other new features include Predictive Lens Mapping and a Home User Button Screen for creating custom layouts to better suit your style of work. This update also adds support for two new Smart Focus Rings tailored to reverse focus pulling as well as left-handed focus pullers. A new Lens File Browser makes file management a lot more intuitive, while the new Focus Tracking Toggle allows the focus tracking device to drive the focus motor and mimic an autofocus mode. Check out the release notes for full details of all new features and improvements.
Popular accessories maker Tilta has announced a new PL to LPL Mount adapter for cinema cameras. This adapter makes it possible to mount PL lenses to a camera with an LPL mount. The lightweight adapter comes in around 340g and features a solid construction out of stainless steel and aluminium alloy. This more affordable adapter also features a quick-lock mechanism which does not require any tools for installation, while also ensuring a secure lens fit. According to Tilta, this adapter is compatible with a wide range of Alexa cameras including the new ALEXA 35, ALEXA LF, Mini LF, ALEXA 65 and also the Sony VENICE.
Bebob has released a new B-mount battery plate allowing Sony VENICE users to power their whole camera rig via a single battery. The new Bebob Coco-VENICE plate can be mounted directly onto the VENICE 1 or 2 cameras, or alternatively to the back of the AXSR7 Raw recorder. The plate provides unregulated 24V via the 4pin XLR input and also supports 12V and 24V power for accessories thanks to the built-in current transformer. Another benefit includes a DC input, which means users can hot-swap batteries, while the multitude of outputs including Lemo, D-tap, Fisher and USB can be used to power a wide range of camera accessories.
