Welcome to the latest episode of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

This week we are featuring ARRI's Impression V filters - designed to detune the image and provide a more vintage look to Signature Zooms and Prime lenses, DZOfilm's third addition to their Pictor zoom range with the ultra-wide 12-25mm T2.8 cine zoom plus Rode's 5th generation of their legendary NT1 studio condenser microphone.

ARRI Impression V filters

ARRI has announced new filters specifically designed for their Signature Zooms and Primes. The new Impression V filters have been designed to detune the image of the Signature lenses and provide a more vintage or even softer look in certain areas of the frame such as background highlights and skin tones. The set includes four positive and four negative diopter filters, which are easily mounted to the back of each lens via a magnetic filter holder. The Impression V filters are a great way for cinematographers to achieve a desired creative look to fit the story in camera, rather than doing it in post. The filters are also designed to be used at a T1.8 aperture, where the strength of the effect is most pronounced and will work on cameras such as the ALEXA 35, Alexa Mini LF, Alexa LF and ALEXA 65.

DZOfilm Pictor 12-25mm T2.8

Innovative lens maker DZO Film has announced a new addition to their Pictor Zoom range. The new ultra-wide 12-25mm T2.8 cine zoom joins the other three zoom lenses in the lineup to give cinematographers a slightly wider option than the already available 14-30mm. Designed for Super 35 sensors, the lens is parfocal and will be available in either black or white. The lightweight lens comes in at just 1.6 kg and features a 270 degree focus travel, which should be plenty for pulling focus. According to DZO, focus breathing is kept to a minimum, while the 16 blade iris should provide pleasing bokeh. The lens will also ship with a native PL mount, however DZO will also include a swappable Canon EF mount.

Rode NT1 5th Gen

Rode has released the 5th generation of their legendary NT1 studio condenser microphone upgrading the classic with some cutting edge next-generation technology. The NT1 5th generation microphone now features Rode’s Dual Connect output offering both traditional XLR as well as USB connectivity for plugging directly into a computer for plug and play recording. This feature adds more versatility to the NT1, which is now also perfect for recording high-quality professional sounding podcasts or Youtube videos. Aimed at musicians and digital creatives alike, the new NT1 also features Rode’s Ultra-Low Noise, High-Gain Revolution PreAmp and advanced digital signal processing. To top it all off, the NT1 also features a 32bit float digital output for recording just about everything from a soft whisper, to the loudest guitar without clipping or fiddling with complex gain settings.
