Sony 20-70mm F4 G
Sony has just announced a new zoom lens with some exciting improvements for video. The new and compact 20-70mm f4 G lens offers more reach on the wide end which is always welcomed when filming, while the manual aperture ring provides a de-clicked option for smooth iris pulls. When switched to manual focus, the lens delivers a linear response, which is great for video, while according to Sony their latest XD linear motors deliver fast Autofocus in both stills and video. Other video improvements include reduced focus breathing as well as reduced focus and axial shift when zooming.
Vocas Universal Sliding Top Handle
Premiere camera accessories maker Vocas has introduced a new Universal Sliding Top Handle system designed to allow camera operators achieve the perfect balance for their camera rig. The new system is compatible with the ALEXA 35 and Sony VENICE and allows users to slide the top handle from either direction depending on their preference and achieve optimum balance. The Top Handle is constructed out of aluminium, stainless steel and walnut for a more ergonomic feel. The Universal Sliding System also includes a wide range of additional bits for mounting accessories such as a Short NATO Rail for, a 50mm Extender, 19mm and 15mm Rail Holders, and a Cold Shoe.
DZOFilm Catta ACE 18-35mm
DZOFilm has announced a third cine zoom as part of their Catta ACE Full-Frame range. The new 18-35mm T2.9 cine zoom delivers the highly desirable wider angle perspective while keeping the lens footprint compact and lightweight. In addition, focus is maintained throughout the range, while the 16 blade iris delivers smooth bokeh. The lens also features a 77mm filter front and 270 degrees of focus travel, which should be plenty for follow focus systems. Available as a solo purchase or in a bundle with the other two lenses in the range the new 18-35mm wide angle zoom features an interchangeable lens mount and will be available in either PL or Sony E mounts, with an option for Canon EF as well.
