Sony VENICE 2 Custom LUTs

Sony has released fresh new custom LUTs for the VENICE 2. Developed in partnership with legendary colour scientist Josh Pines, whose work includes Hollywood classics such as Forest Gump and Saving Private Ryan, among many others, the new Josh Pines LUT pack is available in both HDR and Rec.709 and includes a hero LUT called a Low Contrast Base LUT, designed to be used as a solid starting point for developing a look. Other LUTs include a High Contrast version as well as a 50-50 LUT for a more balanced look. In addition, Look 1 and Look 2 LUTs were developed by senior colourist Jason Fabbro, while the three additional LUTs for REC.709 were designed by Tony D'Amore, whose work includes Fargo and Daredevil. The new family of LUTs can be used with any Sony camera that supports Slog3/S-gamut3.Cine.

Angenieux Optimo Ultra Compact Lenses Full Pack

At Camerimage 2022, esteemed lens maker Angenieux announced the Optimo Ultra Compact Lenses Full Pack. Based on the exclusive Interchangeable Rear Optics technology by the company, this two lens package includes an optical rear module, which enables open gate capture for the ALEXA 35. Essentially, when equipped with the U35 (Open Gate) rear, the Optimo 37-102mm and the 21-56mm full-frame lenses respectively become a 28-76mm T2.2 and a 16-42mm at T2.2. The Optimo Ultra Compact cine zooms have been designed for high-end full-frame and Open Gate capture and thanks to their lightweight and compact footprint their use cases are plentiful. Their world class image quality offers a nice balance of contrast, colour and resolution for an organic cinematic look.

Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 18.1

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 18.1. This is a big update, which brings a ton of new features such as support for editing in vertical aspect ratios for creating social media native content as well as automatic locking of individual timelines within bins for multi-user collaboration. Resolve 18.1 adds a major new feature in the audio department called Voice Isolation, which is an AI-based effect that makes it very easy to remove unwanted sounds and noise from dialogue. The dialogue leveler track FX smoothes voice recordings without the need for tedious level adjustments on clip gain or automation curves. Importing projects with the ATEM Mini now has the audio attached to the video, thus speeding up the editing workflow, while the Fusion page gets support for the Magic Mask effect, which uses the DaVinci Neural Engine to detect animals, people, and various objects and track their movement within a shot.
