Cooke 19-40mm T2.8

Legendary optics maker Cooke has announced a new wide-angle full-frame cine zoom. The new 19-40mm T2.8 is the third addition to the Varotal family of zooms, complimenting the already available 30-95mm and 85mm-215mm zooms. Matched to the rest of the range as well as the S8 and S7 primes, the new 19-40mm Varotal lens is the widest of the range and offers the famous Cooke Look with natural skin tones allowing DoPs to swap between the primes and zooms seamlessly. Weighing at around 3.5kg the new lens is also perfect for gimbal and steadicam work given its range, field of view, and ergonomic design. And as with the rest of the range, the latest Varotal zoom is said to offer world-class resolution and minimal breathing throughout the range.

RED RHINO V-Raptor

RED Digital Cinema have unleashed a new RED V-Raptor S35 camera, which can record the impressive 8K up to 120 frames per second slow motion in REDCODE RAW. The camera comes in a special Rhino Grey colour and is targeting cinematographers, who often need high-speed and high-resolution photography such as wildlife filmmakers and those filming product commercials. The Super 35 sensor in combination with the Canon RF mount makes it possible to use a huge range of telephoto lenses, while the Canon RF to EF adapters makes lens options nearly infinite. The new V-Raptor S35 also offers various REDCODE RAW compressions including HQ, MQ and LQ in various resolutions from 8K all the way to 2K, in addition to 4K at up to 240 fps among others.

SmallRig MagicFIZ

SmallRig recently introduced the MagicFIZ Follow Focus System. Designed for videographers and filmmakers working on a budget and with compact camera setups the system operates on the 2.4GHz wireless spectrum with a range of up to 100 meters. One-click lens calibration eases the setup process significantly while manual controls give users the option to quickly change channels. In addition, the high-torque motor can easily drive cine lenses, while the handwheel controller can drive multiple motors by changing the motor number and comms channel. The modular design allows the Wireless Handgrip and Wireless handwheel controller to be used independently giving creators even more flexibility. Powering the system is easy, the lens motors can accept D-Tap or a power bank, the handgrip uses a Canon LP-E6 battery, while the Wireless Handwheel built-in 1400 mAh battery is rated for up to 20 hours.
