ALEXA 35 Recording Formats Poster
ARRI just made life a lot easier for cinematographers and camera assistants filming with the ALEXA 35. The latest cinema from ARRI offers plenty of recording options, frame rates and resolutions in either ARRIRAW or ProRes, which can sometimes be overwhelming. This is why ARRI publishes the ALEXA 35 Recording Formats Poster, which provides a more useful and visual way of summarizing the various recording options available to DoPs. In addition to frame rates and resolutions, the post also offers a brief summary for each recording format such as 4.6K 3:2 Open Gate, 4K 2:1, 3.3K Anamorphic and plenty more and their intended use case. Check out the link below to download the ALEXA 35 Recording Formats Poster in full resolution.
Wakanda Forever shot on VENICE
...speaking of resolution, Marvel Studios recently released the new IMAX trailer for the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever blockbuster. Shot on the Sony VENICE in combination with Panavision Ultra Vista lenses by cinematographer Autumn Arkapaw, ASC, the IMAX version of the trailer reveals even more breathtaking visuals on an epic scale thanks to its taller aspect ratio. Even though the IMAX sequences in the trailer are just a few seconds long, they bring a much bigger sense of scale to the expansive establishing shots compared to the rest of the shots, which are in the more conventional 2.39:1 aspect ratio.
Canon C300 Mark III and C500 mark II firmware updates
Canon has released firmware updates for the C300 Mark III and C500 mark II cameras. The new firmware v1.041 for the C300 Mark III and firmware v1.061 for the C500 Mark II add key features such as support for the XC protocol enabling integration into multi-camera setups with the RC-IP100 controller, autofocus support when filming slow-motion in 100 or 120 frames per second, 4 channel audio display, as well as saving of recording settings when switching between recording modes. In addition, the latest firmware updates add support for the new CN8x15 servo zoom and Canon Rec 709 to the Gamma/Colour Space menu in the Custom Picture Setting.
