Welcome to the latest episode of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

This week we are featuring the expansion of Samyang's XEEN Carbon Fibre range, with the CF 135mm, the new 19 MKII Universal Camera Mounts from Vocas and the new G-DRIVE Enterprise-Class hard drives from SanDisk.

XEEN CF 135mm

Samyang has announced a new telephoto cine prime in their lightweight Carbon Fibre range. The new XEEN CF 135mm is the sixth and longest lens in the range, and just like the rest of the lineup has been designed to cover the latest generation full-frame sensors in cinema cameras. The lens has a maximum aperture of T2.2 and will be available in various lens mount options including PL, Canon EF, and Sony E. The new lens has a 95mm front diameter and a 200 degree focus throw, while the luminous focus markings makes filming in low-light conditions much easier for focus pullers. The 11 blade iris should produce some lovely bokeh, while the Samyang X-coating technology is said to offer superior control of flares and artefacts.

Vocas BP-19 MKII

Acclaimed camera accessories maker Vocas has announced they are expanding their BP-19 product line. The new BP-19 MKII Universal Camera Mounts are part of the Vocas Sliding System, which offers a unique and intuitive way of achieving optimal camera balance, while switching between different camera setups. The system consists of an integrated sliding system at the top of the base plate with a quick-release, as well as an easy way to balance the dovetail plate. The BP-19 Mark II base plates are available in three versions, one with a 150mm dovetail, version with a 295mm dovetail for larger camera setups with longer lenses, and a third option without a dovetail, which lets camera operators use their own dovetail.

SanDisk G-DRIVE Enterprise-Class hard drives

One thing you can never have enough of when you shoot video professionally is hard drive space. This is why SanDisk announced their Professional G-DRIVE Enterprise-Class hard drives with capacities up to 22T. Wrapped in an anodized aluminium stackable enclosure, the new drives offer high-speed data transfers of up to 280 MBs thanks to the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C interface, while the 7200 RPM enterprise class hard drive ensures fast backups of footage. The drives are available in various capacities from 4 and 6TB to 12, 18, and even 22TB. In addition, these drives are also plug-and-play ready and preformatted for MacOS, and also compatible with Windows PCs.
