Atomos Connect
At NAB Atomos previewed their latest cloud-based video production tools and services alongside a couple of new devices. The new Atomos Connect slot into the back of the Ninja V and V+ monitor/recorders, completely transforming them into full-on production devices with a host of networking connections such as 12G-SDI, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth LE for more flexible on-set communication. When paired with pro cinema or mirrorless cameras, this added functionality enables direct live streaming to platforms such as Facebook Live, Twitch, and YouTube. This advanced connectivity and wireless functionality is also built-in into the new Shogun Connect, which is a new fully-integrated unit with a high-bright display and a host of on-board recording options including ProRes, Avid DNx, and ProRes RAW, in addition to full integration with Frame.io's Camera to Cloud service.
Aputure LS 600c Pro
Also at NAB, popular LED lights maker Aputure expanded their single source Pro LED range with the new LS 600c Pro. Sharing the set-proven DNA of the 600 Pro range, the new full-colour version, brings even more creative options to filmmakers including 300+ color gels, XY, RGB and advanced HSI colour control. In addition to bringing the advanced colour functionality of the Nova series to the 600 Pro line, the new 600c Pro has a wide CCT range from 2300K to 10,000 Kelvin as well as full Sidus Link app wireless control from a smartphone. The 600c Pro also features 15 built-in lighting effects, a weather resistant rugged design and advanced DMX control.
DZOFilm 14-30mm Pictor Zoom
Innovative lens maker DZOFilm has introduced a wide-angle addition to their popular Pictor Cine Zoom range. The new 14-30mm Pictor Zoom is the third lens in the range and currently the widest option with a fast maximum aperture of T2.8 and sharing the same compact and lightweight design as the other two zooms in the range. Designed to cover Super 35 sensors, the lens will be available in either PL or Canon EF mounts making it compatible with a wide range of cine cameras. The lens is also said to be colour matched to the rest of the range giving DoPs an affordable set of zooms covering a wide range of focal lengths from 14mm all the way to 125mm on the telephoto side. The 16 blade iris provides a round and pleasing bokeh, while the 270 degree focus travel gives ACs the ability to easily make accurate focus transitions.
