Welcome to the latest episode of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.
This week we are featuring Sony new firmware for it's VENICE Camcorder, the new beta version of DaVinci Resolve from Blackmagic Design as well as the release of Sigmas I range of premium compact lenses.
Sony VENICE Firmware V6.0 realeased
We start off with some great news for Sony VENICE owner operators and rental houses. Sony just released the much-anticipated firmware v6.00 with more high frame rates in 5.7K full-frame mode and 4K anamorphic up to 72fps and more. Other improvements include vertical and square frame guides for social media content, 3D LUT support for the VENICE EVF and compatibility with the soon to be released Technicolor Look Library utilising the new Advanced Render Transform or ART look up tables due for release on December 15th. DaVinci Resolve 17 Beta 3
Blackmagic Design has released Beta version 3 of their latest DaVinci Resolve 17. Improvements include scroll support for the new Speed Editor as well as the full size Resolve Editor Keyboard making scrolling through the timeline easier. In addition the new beta version brings more stability and performance improvements including better playback on the Edit page and H.265 decoding in the latest MacOS Big Sur. Blackmagic Design also released Resolve 17.1 Beta 3 for those editors using the latest M1 Macs.
Sigma I Series
Sigma just introduced the "I Series" Premium Compact Lens range including three new primes for Sony E mount and Leica L mount mirrorless cameras. Designed for full frame mirrorless cameras, the new I Series include a 24mm f3.5 DG DN, a 35mm f2 standard prime, and a 65mm f2 lens. The previously announced 45mm f2.8 DG DN lens is also part of the new I series range. The new lenses feature a rugged all-metal design, compact size and manual aperture rings. All three new lenses also feature dust and splash-proof lens mounts and are scheduled to ship in January next year.
