Blackmagic Design announces new powerful
6G-SDI Mini Broadcast Converters and
USB Powered Micro Converters at an affordable price. These new models include more advanced features for converting
SDI to HDMI and
HDMI to SDI. They are more powerful than the previous 3G-SDI and 4K models that they replace.
The lower cost USB powered micro converters (
HDMI to SDI wPSU and
SDI to HDMI wPSU ) are repacked without the power supply so customers can use the power supplies they already own. The existing models, which include the micro converter and an AC power supply, have been reduced in price.
Blackmagic Design 6G-SDI Mini Broadcast Converters
The Mini Converter SDI to HDMI 6G model has additional advanced features including HDMI instant lock, 33 point 3D LUT and Ultra HD to HD down conversion. HDMI instant lock can lock on to a new signal in as little as 1 frame, so you get glitch free switching when changing between sources that have the same video format. The 33 point 3D LUT support lets you apply custom looks in realtime using high precision film quality look up tables.
HDMI televisions and projectors can take a long time to lock onto a signal when a new source is connected. To solve this problem, Mini Converter SDI to HDMI 6G features HDMI Instant Lock which continuously sends an active HDMI signal to the display. That means customers get glitch free clean switching when changing to sources that are the same format and frame rate as the previous signal.
For example, customers can connect Mini Converter SDI to HDMI 6G to the output of a video router and monitor signals on a big screen HDMI television. When the router output changes, the HDMI television will instantly lock to the new signal without having to resynchronize.
“The new 6G-SDI Blackmagic Mini Converter models are exciting because they give customers full 10 bit broadcast quality video processing with advanced new features at a lower price than before,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “These new converters give customers a way to use everything from big screen televisions to laptop computers and even digital cinema projectors with their existing SDI equipment and facilities!”
USB Powered Micro Broadcast Converters
The Micro Converter SDI to HDMI converts signals from professional broadcast equipment such as cameras, decks, switchers and routers, and converts it into HDMI so customers can monitor video using big screen televisions and projectors. The Micro Converter HDMI to SDI model lets customers connect their HDMI equipment, such as laptop computers, gaming consoles and consumer video cameras, to professional broadcast equipment.
Both models are USB powered and feature the same micro USB connection that’s used on smartphones. This means customers can power the converters from devices with a USB port, such as laptop computers, big screen televisions, or even a smartphone charger. An optional 110 to 240V AC power adapter is available separately and includes 4 different AC socket adapters so customers can plug them into outlets anywhere in the world.
“Many customers had told us they did not want to be forced to buy a power supply with the Micro Converters as they often powered them from the USB ports on the television or computer the converters were plugged into. This meant the power supplies were generating waste and extra cost,” said Grant Petty, CEO, Blackmagic Design. “Blackmagic Micro Converters are exciting because they give customers full 10 bit broadcast quality video processing in an incredibly small and affordable design that they can take anywhere! Now with these new lower prices, customers are going to use them in studios on broadcast news, at live events, hidden on set, with digital signs, in corporate or hotel AV setups and everywhere in between!”
