Welcome to the latest episode of our weekly roundup of news from the TV and film industry.

This week we are featuring the latest announcement from Kinefinity regarding their MAVO LF and the Mavo S35 Mark 2 models, Teradek's new Prism Mobile - a resilient bonded cellular encoder for mission-critical streaming plus Roland's 'VR-120HD' portable & feature rich streaming switcher.

Kinefinity Mavo Mark 2

Independent camera maker Kinefinity has announced two new versions of some of its most popular cine cameras. The new MAVO LF Mark 2 and the Mavo S35 Mark 2 are now more affordable than ever, but still ready for high-end productions thanks to their amazing image quality to price ratio, robust professional connectivity including dual indepeneding SDI outputs and the ability to record ProRes up to 444 XQ and high-frame rates up to 150 fps in 4K. They may not feature a built-in electronic ND or have two memory slots, but the new models still pack a lot of features, such as dual native ISO for low-light situations and a brand new Super 35 sensor for the Mavo S35 Mark II. The LF Mark II inherits the very capable 6K full frame sensor from its bigger brother the Mavo Edge 6K, and both cameras now allow the user to install an Active PL or an active Sony E mount directly to the front of the camera.

Teradek Prism Mobile

Teradek has announced the new Prism Mobile, or as they call it the most resilient bonded cellular encoder on the market. Designed for mission-critical streaming from the field, the Prism Mobile features a slick, camera-back design, and makes it possible to send high quality, low-latency 10bit 4K video in H.265 or H.264 directly from an ENG Camera to the cloud or a content delivery network. The Prism Mobile is compatible with the Teradek Core cloud app and utilises two internal LTE modems in addition to featuring two Gigabit Ethernet connections, 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs in addition to an SD card slot for internal recording.

Roland VR-120HD

Roland has introduced the new VR-120HD portable streaming switcher. The hybrid event mixer is a powerful unit with advanced automation functions, a wide range of hands-on controls, and plenty of IO, such as 6 SDI and 6 HDMI inputs, in addition to 3 SDI and 3 HDMI outputs. The unit also features 42 channels of audio mixing, direct LAN and USB-C webcam streaming outputs, internal recording to an SD card, as well as the ability to operate up to 12 PTZ cameras simultaneously. The VR-120HD also takes care of your audio needs thanks to the extensive array of XLR audio inputs while the large 7-inch touchscreen makes it easy to navigate through the various input sources. The advanced effects engine in the VR-120HD makes it possible to assign each of the 8 composition layers to a Program, Sub-Program or Auxiliary output.
