SIGMA recently published a thorough buyer's guide, aimed to help cinematographers select the correct Sigma cine primes or zooms for their productions. Sigma has come a long way since the release of the High-Speed Cine Zoom 18-35mm T2 and its bigger brother the 50-100mm alongside the Full-Frame High Speed Cine Primes. The latter offers cinematographers a wide choice of 11 focal lengths starting from 14mm all the way to 135mm covering full-frame sensors in cinema camera such as the Sony VENICE2, FX9, the BURANO, VENICE among many others.

Sigma also now offer the FF Classic Prime lenses, which are based on the High-Speed Cine Primes, but offer more character and flare giving cinematographers a different set of lenses to paint with and serve the story they are trying to tell on screen.

Sigma Cine FF High Speed Prime Features:

    • Super-fast maximum T-stop of T1.5 (T2.0 for 14mm & 135mm only)
    • Designed for full-frame sensors
    • Incredible resolving power for up to 8K shooting
    • Minimized flare and ghosting
    • Available in PL /i, Canon EF, and Sony E mounts
    • Compatible with MC-21 (Canon EF) or MC-31 (PL) adapters to use on L-Mount cameras
    • Available individually or as custom-built set

The Sigma High-Speed Cine Primes are imbued with the legacy of our renowned Art lenses, giving them ultra-sharp optics, amazingly consistent color, and professional-grade build quality that not only stands up to the rigors of on-set use, but allows for easy service and customization.

The set stretches from the ultra-wide 14mm end to the telephoto 135mm, serving every major focal length in between.

Cine Full-Frame Classic Prime Lenses Features

    • Cover full-frame sensors
    • Perfect for cinema cameras such as FX9, BURANO, VENICE1/2, ALEXA 35, ALEXA Mini LF

    • Provides warmer tone and beautiful bokeh effects
    • Maximum T-stop of T2.5 (T3.2 for 14mm & 135mm only)
    • Designed for full-frame sensors
    • Incredible resolving power for up to 8K shooting
    • Available in PL /i mount only
    • Compatible with MC-31 (PL) adapter to use on L-Mount cameras
    • Available individually or as a set

The Sigma Classic's have been designed with special coatings and optical processes to produce beautiful flares, lower-contrast images, and a slightly warmer tone compared to the Sigma High-Speed primes. The Sigma Classic range offers something truly unique and impressive. While the glass evokes a vintage look, these Classic primes are equally capable of resolving images up to 8K, with consistent color and world-class build quality. These lenses also feature a hand-crafted enamel “Classic” logo to distinguish them from other SIGMA lenses.
