Canon unveils a new EOS 5D Mark IV C-Log upgrade service following feedback from its global community of professional photographers and videographers. The upgrade, Canon Log (C-Log) can be added to the EOS 5D Mark IV camera, providing enhanced dynamic range and easier colour grading.  EOS 5D Mark IV C-Log The C-log is designed to deliver an 800% increase in dynamic range by minimising the loss of detail in the darkest and brightest parts of the image. With an ISO setting of 400, the C-log delivers the largest dynamic range of 12 stops. This upgrade will allow EOS 5D Mark IV users to perfectly capture images in difficult lighting conditions. In addition and ensuring maximum freedom in post-production, C-Log alters the image processing data after the image has been captured. In result, users easily colour match footage in a single colour grading process regardless of whether the image was shot with a different camera, including those in the Canon Cinema EOS range. EOS 5D Mark IV owners and users benefit greatly from using C-Log particularly when working with limited or specific lighting settings. The upgrade will reduce noise in shadow areas of the image that can appear during colour grading. The C-Log feature includes two Look Up Tables (LUTs) that correct the recorded image’s gamma and color space when viewed on an external monitor. With Canon Log 10 to Wide DR LUT, the video file is converted to Wide Dynamic Range gamma, with well-preserved highlights and shadow detail. Please note:
The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV camera does not come standard with C-Log. The C-Log feature can only be used with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV Body with Canon Log option or using an upgraded version of the current EOS 5D Mark IV camera. This will be a paid upgrade and users would need to send in their cameras to a Canon service center. The upgrade will be available from July 2017.
